Chicago photographer M.J. Steffens (1854-1928) attemtped to revive daguerreotypy. Steffens produced quite a few fine images, apparently exhibited at (or in association with) the Columbian Exposition of 1893.
A collector bought several of these images at a Chicago area show/sale (ca 1976-77) Attempts to sell the images locally were futile and the items were sold to an overseas collector (possibly Norwegian). Am looking for those images or similar dags by Steffens.
Article was written for History of Photography Journal,July 1977.
Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.
